It doesn't sound like it's being overworked when these freezes and such occur. The reason I'm thinking this may be a Windows issue and not a hardware problem is because the computer itself seems to be fine. It starts out with things loading super slowly, or not responding, and ends with my entire computer freezing so that I have no choice but to shut it down. I could have nothing but my web browser open and it will do the same. The strangest part, though, is that it's not even just games. Games that ran perfectly before lag like crazy, and freeze up to the point I have to manually shut down my computer. Once my computer is started, I have a good 45 minutes before it starts acting up. Sometimes it will get to the loading screen fairly quickly, but will still take several minutes to get me to my desktop. Sometimes the monitor will stay on a black screen for several minutes, before switching to the Windows loading screen for another several minutes.

Starting my computer takes an outrageous amount of time, especially considering how quickly this PC ran before.
The most noticeable problem I've been having recently is the Windows startup. It seemed to work, and I'm fairly certain that's not the issue, but it seemed worth mentioning as I never properly fixed it. I was able to fix this issue by laying the computer on it's side so that the fan would stay in place. I took a look under the hood and found a fan had come loose (one of the 'clips' holding it in place had been broken). I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but since I'm not certain it's a Windows issue just yet, I thought I'd include it: a few months after purchase, the PC was overheating and shutting down minutes after startup every time. I had it built specifically to accommodate some of my favorite PC games. By far the smoothest running PC I've owned. I got my computer custom made a little over a year ago, and it was fantastic. I'm fairly literate when it comes to computers and I'm usually pretty confident in my ability to diagnose and fix issues, but I'm hoping someone much more knowledgeable can help me figure out where to start this time around. I have a somewhat vague issue with my computer that I think is a Windows problem, though I could be wrong.
